Jun 25, 2017 HP Insight Management Agents and WBEM providers do not co-exist; one will override the other. If you have Windows 2008 R2, 2012 upwards, go with WBEM. Much easier with new OS. Remember to integrate the Smart Storage Administrator with SMH- use Smart Storage Preferences app, which installs with the SSA.
Hi experts. We are going to deploy an HP insight management platform and are currently doing some testing. We use windows and linux servers. But for testing our HP SIM is on a windows 2003 box and our client is also a windows 2003 machine. I have been doing some readin (always a dangerous thing!!) and there is considerable literature that suggests that WBEM/WMI can be used instead of SNMP, as it is generally more secure and runs over https. I am aware that there are 2 main agents. The HP insight management agents (which is SNMP) and the HP Insight management WBEM providers (WBEM agent). I am also aware that HP insight manager is pure WBEM, and uses the WMI proxy mapper to translate between the 2. My first question is can i just use WBEM on windows servers to communicate with HP SIM, or do i also need SNMP? Do the 2 agents co exist? I am testing a setup now with only the HP Insight management WBEM provides installed on the client (both agents installed on the SIM server). I discover the server then run an identify systems task. I am 99% sure my global WBEM credentials are correct, I get the following error: ... Checking for WBEM support on system. This system does not have any SMI-S CIMOM installed
This system doesn´t have a server CIMOM installed locally, or cannot connect to it using all credentials specified Running WBEM rules based identification. Cannot get ComputerSystem WBEM/WMI data from the system Running VM Identification ... ... Did not detect WBEM support on this system. Will not attempt storage identification. If this is a storage host, check WBEM credentials and make sure the providers and CIMOM are operational on the host. .... I know that the SMI-S stuff is for storage, and can be ignored. But I am struggling to understand why it is nod picking up any WBEM support. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
